Athletic Trainer & Teacher
Mullen High School is seeking to hire an energetic committed individual to serve as Athletic Trainer. This at- will opportunity includes a wellness teaching role, creating a full- time position. These roles may be divided into part- time opportunities.

The Department of Athletics at Mullen High School has an opening for an at-will Assistant Athletic Trainer. Full- time employment will include teaching courses in Wellness.
This is a full- time at- will 2025-2026 school year opportunity.
Compensation is $52,000- $69,000.
Mullen has the right to pay more or less dependent on experience and education

Essential Job Functions
Catholic and Lasallian Identity
- Understands, emphasizes and supports the Lasallian and Catholic nature of the school at all times and through all responsibilities and programs are connected to curriculum and to the Core Principles.
- Models the role of coach to promote student behavior that is supportive, and conducive, to the implementation of the school’s instructional programs and goals.
- Exemplifies and upholds the expectations and actions of Lasallian professionalism among all staff
Athletic Training Job Duties
- Adhere to NATA Code of Ethics as a practicing Athletic Trainer, professionally working as a member of the Athletic Health Care Team while aligning with team physician standing orders.
- Provide Athletic Training services for Mullen student-athletes, ranging from basic first aid and injury triage, to rehabilitation of ongoing injuries and managing return to play progressions.
- Coverage of Mullen Athletic team practices and competitions, including evenings and weekends. Coverage assignments are coordinated with the Athletic Department.
- Prepared to respond to emergencies, and activating venue-specific Emergency Action Plans.
- Work with other ATCs to clear students for participation before their season officially starts. Student Athletes will not be allowed to participate in sport until they are cleared in MyMullen
- Maintain a line of communication with the Athletic Training Staff regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries.
- Engage positively and collaboratively with Mullen sports performance and Mullen sport coaches.
- Maintain communication with parents on the care, treatment, and referral of their student-athlete.
- Keep consistent communication with Coaches in person and via other methods to ensure proper communication and protocols are followed
- File all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents.
Teacher
- Intentional focus on student achievement.
- Stimulate inquiry and engagement through project-based instruction.
- Prepare lessons based upon backwards design.
- Grade student work and maintain/update grades.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students and instructional teams.
- Utilize effective research-based instruction and evaluation.
- Utilize both formative and summative assessment for student mastery.
- Communicate effectively with students and families.
- Work outside the normal schedule periodically in collaboration with colleagues.
- Demonstrate competency in integrating technology into classroom teaching.
- Demonstrated competency of collaborative work.
- Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education and individual, dual or team sports and other appropriate learning activities.
- Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge and strategies of formal sports, games, and fundamentals of body movement.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment in wellness areas.
- Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General
- Understanding of and commitment to the Lasallian and Catholic nature of the school.
- Strong decision-making, analytical and organizational skills.
- May need to lift items up to 50lbs
Communication and Relationship
- Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people, including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
- Excellent interpersonal relations and oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from parents, administrators, community stakeholders, etc.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, school personnel, parents, vendors, peers and other stakeholders.
- Ability to understand and be sensitive to those of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to use tact, patience and courtesy when dealing with others.
- Advanced skill in dealing with students and staff with diverse needs at various levels.
- Knowledge of understanding of adolescent physical, emotional, and intellectual development.
Qualifications
- BOC certified and DORA Licensed
- MA from an accredited Athletic Training Education Program
- Possesses an enthused love for Sports Medicine and has a desire help and advocate for high school Student Athletes
- Work within the framework of a Lasallian, Catholic, and College Prep institution
- Demonstrated interest, commitment, and ability to work with students of varied academic levels and interests.
- Strong commitment and desire to work with youth and adults in a collaborative environment.
- Enjoy the challenge of implementing new teaching methods and educational tools in an ever changing and strategic environment.
- Ability to utilize technology and integrate the use of technology to instruct and provide feedback on student's performance and development.
- Life-long learner, optimistic, flexible, and passionate about helping all students reach their potential.
- Open to change and possess skills that promote student achievement and growth.
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years successful teaching experience preferred.
- Prior experience of teaching high school, preferably wellness or physical education courses preferred.
