A mission-driven nonprofit organization in the DTLA / Silver Lake area is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead and own the accounting function during a critical period of growth and increased audit activity. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who can balance strategic oversight with day-to-day execution. You’ll partner closely with leadership, guide the audit process end-to-end, and help strengthen financial operations as the organization continues to scale

Title: Controller
Compensation: Up to $145k in base DOE + health insurance + retirement match + robust PTO + Benefits
Location: 5 days Onsite in Silverlake/DTLA area

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the accounting function end-to-end, including day-to-day operations and leadership oversight

• Lead the annual audit process as the primary point of contact

• Support organizational growth through improved financial processes and controls

• Manage and develop the accounting team

• Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and best practices

Qualifications:

• Recent Nonprofit accounting experience
• Recent Controller or Management experience with hands-on responsibility for monthly close, reporting, and compliance
• 2–3+ years of ownership of annual financial audits, including direct interaction with external auditors and leadership
• Experience leading and developing an accounting team
• NetSuite is a plus
